Identity theft

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (section 605B) lets you ask each bureau to block accounts or inquiries someone opened in your name.

Your block requests

No block requests yet.

Start one for each bureau that shows an account or inquiry you didn’t open. Each request needs your FTC report, so upload it too.

Upload your FTC report

How a block request works

  1. Choose

Pick the accounts or inquiries at that bureau that you didn’t open.

  2. Sign

Sign the letter we draft. A notary isn’t required, but a notarized signature is harder for a bureau to question.

  3. Mail

We build the packet with your FTC report, ID and proof of address. Print it and send it by certified mail.

  4. Wait

The bureau has 4 business days after it receives the packet to block the items or decline.

Metro2IQ is a self-help tool. You decide what to dispute and you mail your own letters. You can also dispute directly with each credit bureau, for free. Accurate, timely information can’t be removed from a credit report. Metro2IQ isn’t affiliated with Equifax, Experian or TransUnion.
